Who is JJ Jones Electric? We are a second-generation full-service electrical contractor serving the Chicagoland area since 1977.
What type of work do you do? We specialize in design/build, commercial, and industrial projects including: new construction, retail/tenant improvement, office/warehouse, power and control systems, and service work.
When were you founded? We were founded in 1977 by Lester and Judy Jones. After receiving his Electrical Engineering degree from University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign, Lester started by working out of his garage, slowly growing the company. Lester retired in 2003 and his son, Jonathan “JJ” Jones, is now President and owner of JJ Jones Electric and manages daily operations. Jonathan received his Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign.

What areas do you service? We serve the greater Chicago-land area, including the following counties: DuPage, Cook, Kane, Lake, and Will.

Are you a licensed electrical contractor? Yes. We maintain an active Chicago electrical license. Each of our electricians have a fully equipped vehicle outfitted with all tools and materials for every electrical job.
Are you bonded and insured? Yes. We are bonded and fully insured including general liability, automobile liability, excess/umbrella liability and contents coverage. A certificate of insurance is always provided prior to the start of any project.
Are you a union shop? Yes, we are a IBEW Local 701, 134, 176, 150, 117 and 461 signatory contractor with the ability to add qualified electricians depending on project requirements.
Do you provide electrical permit drawings? Yes, we provide engineered electrical permit drawings for each of our projects. Our designs are efficient and cost effective solutions.
Do you provide preliminary budget numbers? Yes, we provide both electrical budget numbers to help with pre-project planning as well as preliminary design and layout to help better comprehend the electrical scope included in the budget.
